LabelHorde and AZ Fashion Source share the F.A.B.R.I.C. building with Arizona Apparel Foundation. I am also a co-founder of AAF so I am so proud and excited to share the amazing things that AZ Apparel Foundation is doing. AAF's mission is to provide the knowledge and resources needed to foster Arizona’s fashion industry and is doing it in some pretty impressive ways including...
CINDERELLA AFFAIR/EVIT PROM DRESS PROJECT AAF held a contest for the high school fashion students of the East Valley Institute of Technology to design a plus sized prom dress. EVIT student, Nicole Begay, was the winner of the contest. Nicole's winning dress was manufactured in the FABRIC building utilizing the services located inside. Nicole got to experience the responsibilities of a real fashion designer and get her own name and logo on the dresses. These dresses are being donated to the Cinderella Affair to be given away to girls in need this Saturday, March 25, 2017 8am-3pm and| April 1 and 8, 2017 8am-3pm at The Cinderella Affair Boutique, 411 N. McKemy Avenue, Chandler, AZ. Support for this program would allow for this program to be offered on an annual basis.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR DISADVANTAGED WORKERS AAF is sponsoring sewing training for individuals with disabilities from The Centers for Habilitation with the goal to provide individuals with autism sewing skills so they may be employed in the local industry. Supporting this program will allow for more intense and frequent training sessions.
FASHION DESIGN SCHOLARSHIPS AAF is providing support to three lucky local fashion designers/brands through a scholarship that awards the designers/brand an office for six months at no charge within the FABRIC building as well as access to the industrial sewing maker's studio, access to the sourcing library, an upgraded listing on the LabelHorde Directory and support from the network off fashion industry experts that work with AAF and at the FABRIC building. Supporting this program would allow AAF to offer even more to the designers. The goal is to eventually be able to supply them with assistance through the biggest financial hurdles that emerging brands face including assistance with their business plan, marketing, patterns, prototyping, fabrics/trims for their first collection and more.
AND MORE... Free classes, free events, a sourcing library for fashion designers to find wholesale fabrics/trims, free business support services and more.
