PARKING:

Parking and Road Closures: https://www.tempefestivalofthearts.com/info/get-here and http://www.downtowntempe.com/get-around/parking

Parking is going to be challenging! Our event takes place during the Tempe Festival of the Arts on Mill Avenue so many of the parking garages are full and it does cost money to park in downtown Tempe. Please make sure you look at the parking links above now and have a plan of checking out multiple parking garages on the day of the event if needed. Also, be sure to building in a lot of extra time to find parking and get to FABRIC by your call time. Your hair and makeup may take place at FABRIC, a salon or your own location, but by 12:45 everyone needs to be in the main manufacturing floor of FABRIC ready to walk over to the 6th Street roundabout as a group in order.

Other options to avoid being late….

  • The light rail does drop off right next to FABRIC

  • Uber/Lyft

  • Get someone to drop you off

  • In general, to avoid road closures around Mill Ave. events, you should plan to approach our building from the south because many roads North of FABRIC are closed. If coming from the north, exit Priest or Scottsdale/Rural road from the 202. Then head south to University or even Broadway. Then head back up (north) on Forest.

THE SHOW:

The Runway Show:

Every year, 60 Arizona apparel and accessory brands/designers participate in the LabelHorde Fashion Show to collaborate, network and show off Arizona’s amazing fashion industry. Each designer shows one signature look that best defines their brand. Accessory designers can cover their model in as many pieces as they wish.  Brands include everything from casual street wear, T-shirts, bathing suits and even underwear brands all the way to formal wear, wedding dresses and even pet and children’s clothing and accessory lines.

Each brand has their own model, hair stylist and makeup artist which are all credited in the program in ABC order by brand. The program directs audience members to find each participant in the LabelHorde Directory if they like what they see.

The Rack Sale:

As a new bonus this year, FABRIC Members get to pull a rack of clothing out onto the runway right after the show to sell items to the festival goers and audience! Become a FABRIC Member HERE if you’d like this opportunity.

New Location:

Also new this year is the location. The roundabout on 6th Street and Mill Ave (part of the Tempe Festival of the Arts footprint) will be turned into our runway. Models will walk around the roundabout. See map on ticket link for this unique seating arrangement.

Finale’ Parade:

At the end of the show, all participants (models and designers) will walk the runway in one final finale’ walk in the same ABC order. Then this finale’ walk parade will continue throughout the festival heading north on Mill Ave to encourage festival goers to follow the parade back to the runway where they can purchase clothing and meet the designers.

BACKSTAGE:

Please bring water and snacks.

The main manufacturing/event space at FABRIC will act as our backstage. Your name will be on 2 chairs in this space for you and your model. The chairs will be in ABC order by brand which is the order you will walk the runway so please do not move the chairs to a different location. This will help us put everyone in order.

If you do not need to use our hair/makeup rooms to get your model ready, then please stay in the main manufacturing/event space so we can keep the hair/makeup rooms less congested.

FIND A MODEL:

Designers must pick their own professional models and enter their model’s name into their application so that we can properly credit your model in the program. See instructions above on how to do this.

Designers cannot model for themselves.

Models cannot model for more than one designer/brand. So, make sure they haven’t already committed to someone else.

All models must have a listing in the LabelHorde Directory at www.LabelHorde.com. It’s free. If the model that you find doesn’t have a listing, please make sure that they sign up prior to the show. This is free advertising for them and it helps the audience find them and helps to build community.

Your model must be a professional model. This show is meant to feature all of AZ’s industry pros….not students, beginners or hobbyists. All models should have runway experience, have a great walk and be tall/statuesque.

Models can be found in many places:

  • Labelhorde Directory: AZ’s only fashion industry directory at www.labelhorde.com. Simply contact the model and ask if they’d like to model for you.

  • Contact models you’ve worked with in the past.

  • Contact an agency. They can be found in the LabelHorde Directory.

  • Model Mayhem

  • Social media: Create a post on your own page.

  • Facebook Groups: Create a post in a FB group.

    • AZ Fashion Industry

    • Arizona Fashion Industry Network

    • Phoenix AZ Models Makeup Artists Stylists and Photographers

Some models are willing to volunteer their time for this community effort, while others may charge a fee. Designers are responsible for paying the model’s fee if applicable.  Even if your model doesn’t charge, it is recommended that you either offer to pay them something, give them product for their time, and/or offer to purchase high res images of the event for their portfolio. This will give you a little more insurance that your model will show up and will build a strong relationship with them for future collaboration. If you still cannot find a model after looking on LabelHorde.com and posting on social media or searching in places like Model Mayhem, let us know immediately and we may be able to help find you someone.

You will need to let your model know where to go for hair/makeup and what the look is that you want them to have so they can communicate it to the hair/makeup team. If you cannot accompany your model to hair/makeup, please be sure your model understands the look so he/she can communicate it to the artists. It is best to plan to travel/carpool to the hair/makeup and the event with your model so you can be sure they make it on time. Please see location and arrival times above.

Don’t forget to let your model know what shoes and undergarments to wear.

If you are an ACCESSORY DESIGNER, it is required that your model wears a simple black outfit so that the jewelry/accessories are the focus. It is between you and your model on who will supply this outfit. Please stick to simple black pants or leggings and black tank or T-shirt or a simple black body conscious dress so it is obvious that the focus should be on the accessories.

FIND HAIR/MUA:

Designers will find their own hair and makeup artists and enter their names into their application so that we can properly credit hair stylist and makeup artist model in the program. See instructions above on how to do this.

All hair stylists and makeup artists must have a listing in the LabelHorde Directory at www.LabelHorde.com. It’s free. If the artist that you find doesn’t have a listing, please make sure that they sign up prior to the show. This is free advertising for them and it helps the audience find them and helps to build community.

Hair stylists and Makeup Artists can be found in many places:

This will give you a little more insurance that you can count on them and will build a strong relationship with them for future collaboration. If you still cannot find an artist after looking on LabelHorde.com and posting on social media, let us know immediately and we may be able to help find you someone.

You can have your model’s hair/makeup done anywhere. Work with your hair/makeup artists to figure out the best location. Either way, just he sure you are in the main manufacturing/event space at FABRIC with your model fully ready to go by 12:45.

HISTORY/GOALS:

In 2003, the first LabelHorde Fashion Show (originally called the LabelHorde Fashion Ball) was a celebration and showcase of the AZ fashion community and a way to unite all local industry professionals. Each year the event continues to feature 60 of AZ’s designers/brands each showcasing one signature look on their own model. 60 designers, 60 models, and 30+ of the best hair/makeup artists in the valley collaborate to celebrate and showcase AZ’s industry which includes every category of fashion from T-shirts to wedding dresses at every stage of growth from emerging to established brands. At the turn of the century, this show and the LabelHorde directory were the sparks that ignited the AZ fashion industry before it became SEW HAUTE!
